How to create rose water….

Creating your own rose water is kinda like a mystical mindfulness practice. It encourages you to slow down, get creative, tap into your feminine essence & the intuitive body. It is one of my favourite things to do. Plus I now use rose water daily, in the morning and the evening, as part of my natural skin care routine.

Rose petals are the highest vibrational flower. They symbolise love, royalty, beauty, sensuality and mysticism. The rose parallels a lot of characteristics associated with feminine energy  and the female form.

Just inhaling the unmistakable scent of rose water or oil is said by many to be relaxing. Some studies even suggest that it releases endorphins, chemical signals in the brain that increase feelings of wellbeing.

Roses support the body’s natural collagen production. Which is our body's protein responsible for healthy skin, nails and hair. Loaded with anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, roses can also help ease breakouts and calm skin conditions.

Rose water is deeply moisturising and hydrating for the skin. It soothes redness. Balances oil and sebum production. Tones the skin. Helps with premature ageing and enhances complexion.

What you’ll need:

Rose petals, distilled water, glass spray bottle (preferably dark glass to keep the rose water fresher for longer). Make sure you clean out the bottle and sterilise. You can use vinegar, lemon & hot water, salt water or just plain hot soapy water. Then rinse so as the bottle doesn’t smell.

You can also add essential oils, witch hazel, aloe Vera, crystals, herbs, other flowers.  It depends what your intentions are. It is just for refreshing, moisturising and waking up the skin? Is it treat specific skin condition? Is it to use in ritual? Let yourself be intuitively guided as to its purpose and what to include.

Store brought roses are fine but fresh from the garden are even better if you have them available.

I don’t measure the water, I don’t weigh the petals I just play around with it. I use what I want. That’s part of the process for connecting to feminine energy. It’s not logical it’s intuitive & playful. The water will evaporate and probably half when heating up so make sure you take that into account.

Use this time to connect & have fun, put some music on, dance as you concoct. Bring the vibes.

Steps:

  1. Gently rinse the rose petals.

  2. Then add the distilled water and petals to a saucepan. Using metal of any kind isn’t the greatest if you have a ceramic saucepans & wooden spoon to stir that would be better. I used a metal saucepan for years so don’t stress if you haven’t. Work with what you got.

  3. Bring the water slowly to the boil then lower the heat

  4. Stir regularly

  5. You will need to leave on low heat anywhere from 10- 30 mins depending on how much you’re making and how many rose petals you are using. When the rose petals loose their colour and it’s absorbed into the water  that’s a good indication it’s ready.

  6. Whilst the rose water is heating up start collecting the essential oils and anything else you want to add. Get creative. Listen to your intuition.

  7. Next you will need to separate the rose petals from the water. This can be done via a cheesecloth, colander or sieve. Make sure you squeeze the petals to extract all of the water.

  8. Leave the rose water to cool

  9. Then convert to the spray bottle and add all your extras.

Top Tips:

Make more than you think you’ll need, then you can keep the left over in the fridge for whatever you wanna use it for.

Use rose water any time during the day, as an uplifting, refreshing & grounding spray.

Use Rose Water to create spiritual bath & ritual mixes. Its a beautiful practice that cleanses your spiritual body. Again the purpose of the bath is intuitive and always different, sometimes it’s just for a relaxing bath during menstruation other times it’s for deep cleansing, healing & journeying.

Practice self massage using the water on the soles of your feet. Another great way to connect to your body.

Don’t throw the used rose petals away, you can use them directly on the skin or eyes.

Add a few drops of Rose Water to your oils if creating face/body oil.

Rose water usually lasts about a month or so if you keep it in the fridge. If you store it at room temperature, especially in the summer months it only lasts a few weeks.

When buying essential oils please please please research the supplier. This is not a regulated body and many companies selling essential oils that are not legit & add other chemicals and to them. I only advocate buying from Doterra. They are expensive but they are 100% pure and last forever. You only need a few drops. I started off with 3 oils and over the years my collection has grown. I became a consultant for a small annual fee and get all my essential oils at wholesale price plus loads of offers. It’s a good route to go if you are going to explore your path with essential oils further. Hit me up if you want more information on how to do this enchantingalchemy1111@gmail.com

My fav things to add…….

Essential oils: Peppermint, Wild orange, Frankincense, Clary sage/Serenity Blend

Rosemary dried herbs. Aloe Vera extract. Saffron

But in all honesty it changes every single time that I make it. Sometimes I grind down more herbs using my mortal & pestle. Sometimes I add other flowers from garden. Sometimes I add salt and egg shells. Depends on my mood, my vibe, my creation and most importantly what I am guided to use.

Enjoy making rose water & connecting to your feminine energy 🌹
